Memories from Taiwan

To celebrate the 112th National Day of Taiwan-ROC, to promote unity within the Houston overseas Taiwanese community, and to engage in cultural exchanges with mainstream friends, this year’s Houston Double Ten Celebration Committee has collaborated with, and converged the faculties of, multiple community organizations to present to you the grand “Sentiments of Formosa” variety show.

This program brings together Houston’s elite local talents, jointly presented by the National Taiwan Normal University Alumni Association, the Chinese Culture University Alumni Association, the Chung Yuan Christian University Alumni Association, the Taiwanese Association of America-Houston Chapter, the Lele Chorus, and the Taiwan Youth Ambassadors (FASCA). This spectacle will take place on Saturday, September 30th, from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the main auditorium of the Overseas Community Affairs Center (10303 Westoffice, TX 77042). The program is all-encompassing, starting with Light and Salt Association’s “Super Cool Drummers,” followed by a Tai Chi dance group to accompany you for a “Walk in Style.” The Lele Chorus will perform under the silver moonlight, allowing you to gaze at the beauty of Formosa. Then, within the melodious piano tunes, it will evoke memories of the gentle spring breeze in Formosa while sharing the taste of fragrant tea. Alas! Who’s beautiful figure will appear on stage, drawing out a sense of classical Latin elegance?

Next, we will take you back to the nostalgic temple fair. Borrowing from the threads of nostalgia, you will stroll through childhood memories, playing with bells, watching martial arts, enjoying live music and street dancing. And in a blink if an eye, it will be time for some late-night snacks!

Indeed, there will be late-night snacks for everyone! The biggest surprise of this event is that after the performances, another layer of culinary delight will be unveiled for you. To relish those Taiwanese snacks is no longer a dream… What are the dishes you desire the most?
